{"id":3,"date":"2009-10-02T18:28:37","date_gmt":"2009-10-03T01:28:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fova.org\/wp\/?page_id=3"},"modified":"2023-10-31T11:05:23","modified_gmt":"2023-10-31T18:05:23","slug":"about-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.fova.org\/?page_id=3","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>FOVA&#8217;s Mission Statement<\/h2>\n<p>We, the parents of the children participating in the Los Angeles Unified School District&#8217;s Conservatory of Fine Arts, are committed to supporting the program through varied parent involvement activities in an effort to maximize the resources and quality of the program and to improve student&#8217;s attendance and cooperation, in order to produce skilled and committed new artists.<\/p>\n<h2>A Bit of History &#8230;<\/h2>\n<p>Friends of Visual Arts (FOVA) was founded in 1991 by parents of children attending the Visual Arts Conservatory who wanted to help with hall monitoring, teacher assisting and matting art work in preparation for Open House.\u00a0 In 1992, parents took the group in a new direction when the State of California cut back on funding for the program.\u00a0 Parents rallied together in support by raising over $1,000 in cash donations desperately needed for art supplies.
