{"id":151,"date":"2010-10-08T01:58:18","date_gmt":"2010-10-08T08:58:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fova.org\/?p=151"},"modified":"2018-10-15T14:45:33","modified_gmt":"2018-10-15T21:45:33","slug":"2010-2011-welcome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.fova.org\/?p=151","title":{"rendered":"2010-11 WELCOME"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On behalf of the <strong>Friends of the Visual Arts(F.O.V.A)<\/strong> Board, we welcome all returning students and new students and their parents to this year\u2019s session of the <strong>2010-2011 Conservatory of the Visual Arts Program<\/strong>.\u00a0 FOVA is a non profit organization started in 1991 by concerned parents, who like you, are interested in their child\u2019s growth as an artist. FOVA helps supply any needed funds to support this fine LAUSD Conservatory of Fine Arts(Visual Arts) Program that has been existence for 25+ years. FOVA also provides a communication link between the parents and the LAUSD.<\/p>\n<p>The Visual Arts Program greatly appreciates receiving any donations, whether it is money, supplies or services.\u00a0 All the money collected into FOVA goes straight back into providing art supplies, a scholarship and any services that the teacher would like to help your child in his or her endeavor into the wonderful world of visual arts. Note: FOVA is a non-profit organization, your donations are tax deductible and upon donation you will be given a donation certificate with our tax ID#for your taxes.<\/p>\n<p>During the year, parents are asked to help out by bringing snack and drinks for the students\u2019 nutrition break.\u00a0 All snacks and drinks at $.75 and nachos at $1.25 each are a great deal for your child.\u00a0 Since LAUSD provides this program to the students at NO cost to the parents, it only seems fitting that the parents assist with providing snacks and drinks four or more times during the school year\u00a0 This year FOVA is vigorously looking for more snack volunteers.\u00a0 To sign up, see a current snack volunteer or a FOVA board member.\u00a0 When it comes to your turn to provide the snacks and drinks, we would ask that you also help in selling the snacks during the two breaks.\u00a0 Every year the budget from LAUSD seems to be less and less, and this year we are so fortunate to not have this program cut, we have to pick up the slack so <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>PLEASE SIGN UP FOR AT LEAST FOUR SATURDAYS AND HELP ON YOUR WEEKENDS<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Sign up books will be available for choosing the dates you would like to bring in snacks\/drinks.\u00a0 We can send a reminder by email or phone call a few days prior to your date.\u00a0 The books will be available at the snack area each week to verify dates.\u00a0 We also encourage you sign up on our email list for important messages throughout the year on new information\/reminders about the program.\u00a0 We have had parents\/students come to class on weekends we have been off.<\/p>\n<p>The Conservatory of Fine Arts(Visual Arts)Program each year plans an open house in January 2011 and End-Of-The-Year Art Show and on during the last class on May 7, 2011, so parent,grandparents,family and friends can see the accomplishments of the students as they progress throughout the year.\u00a0 Each year there will also be field trips &amp; demonstrations for the students to attend.<\/p>\n<p>We look forward to seeing you during the year in the Parent Room(3rd Floor).
