FOVA’s Mission Statement

We, the parents of the children participating in the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Conservatory of Fine Arts, are committed to supporting the program through varied parent involvement activities in an effort to maximize the resources and quality of the program and to improve student’s attendance and cooperation, in order to produce skilled and committed new artists.

Parents rallied together in support by raising over $1,000 in cash donations desperately needed for art supplies. In 1994, the parent group was formally named: Friends of Visual Arts, and “The Great Student Logo Design Contest” followed. A design was chosen and it’s still our logo today! In later years, a variety of fundraising efforts evolved, including the sale of FOVA aprons, T-shirts, sweatshirts and snacks. Since then, cash donations, corporate funding, teacher’s art auctions and Raffle Mania! assist FOVA in consistently reaching its fundraising goals. The rest, they say, is history…
